Enterprise-managed settings now let admins enable automatic updates for specific plugin marketplaces by setting `autoUpdate: true` on an `extraKnownMarketplaces` entry. Supported clients will check the marketplace and update it automatically.

GitHub is gradually rolling out enforcement of a default global model policy for generally available GitHub Copilot models on Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise plans. The policy was announced in July and is now generally available.
GitHub Apps can now be granted access to enterprise billing data by enterprise owners. The app configuration flow now includes an enterprise billing permission that can be selected when creating or updating an app.

The rule insights dashboard is now generally available for both repositories and organizations. It provides a visual, high-level view of how GitHub evaluates and enforces repository rules.
GitHub Copilot’s new Customize tab in the Copilot app is now generally available. It is meant to connect Copilot with a team’s existing tools, knowledge, and workflows, including MCP.
GitHub now lets repository owners block a user directly from a security advisory page in public repositories. The feature is available for repositories owned by organizations or personal accounts.
Push rules in GitHub rulesets now support path exceptions, letting you exempt specific file paths so a rule applies everywhere else in scope. The feature is available in public preview.

GitHub updated blocked-user management for personal accounts and organizations. The blocked users list now supports search, sorting, and pagination to make large lists easier to manage.
GitHub’s Slack integration now includes agentic GitHub Copilot capabilities from Copilot CLI and the Copilot app, available in public preview. Users can interact with @GitHub in Slack to work with these features.
GitHub Copilot can now be started from Microsoft Teams by mentioning @GitHub in a channel, thread, or direct message. This creates a shared agent session that participants can view and help guide.

GitHub now lets you pin saved views to a repository’s issues sidebar, so frequently used views are easier to access. The feature is generally available.
Windows 11 arm64 images with Visual Studio 2026 are now generally available on standard and larger GitHub-hosted runners. Workflows can use the new image by updating the runner image reference.
