GitHub Copilot usage metrics API now includes a new user-teams report that maps each Copilot-licensed user to the teams they belong to. This can be joined with existing usage reports to analyze Copilot usage at the team level.
GitHub Copilot app is available in technical preview as a GitHub-native desktop experience for starting agentic development from existing work while keeping it isolated and steerable.

GitHub has introduced a new Enterprise Installation API in public preview for GitHub App developers. The API fills a gap identified from community feedback and lets an app determine whether it is installed in an enterprise.
Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise users can now start Copilot cloud agent tasks programmatically using a new Agent tasks REST API. The feature is in public preview.

GitHub updated Copilot code review comments in the new pull requests experience to make them easier to scan and act on. The changes are available to all users opted into that experience and include grouped suggestions, severity levels, and an updated comment layout.
GitHub now lets customers download April usage reports to see how Copilot activity maps to AI credits ahead of the new usage-based billing rollout. The billing unit of AI credits is going live on a staged schedule.
GitHub has deprecated the older synchronous SBOM REST API after releasing a new asynchronous SBOM API. The synchronous API is scheduled for removal on November 13, 2026, giving a six-month migration window.

Dependabot can now access internal repositories in other organizations within the same enterprise. This lets Dependabot resolve dependencies hosted in cross-org internal GitHub repositories.

The Copilot usage metrics API now reports Copilot code review suggestions broken down by comment type. This adds a new `copilot_suggestions_by_comment_type` metric for analyzing code review activity.
GitHub now lets personal account owners set commit comments to be enabled or disabled by default for their repositories. This adds a user-level default for commit comment behavior across repos they own.

Enterprise Live Migrations (ELM) is now in public preview. It lets enterprise administrators migrate repositories from GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) to GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
