GitHub now supports triggering Copilot cloud agent automations from new issue comments and pull request comments. This enables comment-based workflows such as generating documentation.
GitHub changed issue creation restrictions so users with the triage role can now create issues in repositories where issue creation is limited to collaborators only. Previously, only users with write access could create issues under that setting.

GitHub has added user-based model policy targeting for enterprise teams in public preview. It is available to GitHub Enterprise customers with Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise licenses and lets AI administrators set a baseline policy.

GitHub Models was retired on July 30, 2026. The playground, model catalog, inference API, and bring-your-own-key (BYOK) access are no longer available to customers.
GitHub has put stacked pull requests into public preview. The feature lets users split a larger change into an ordered series of smaller, reviewable pull requests.
Enterprises and organizations can now limit Copilot remote control sessions to managed devices. This adds administrator control over which devices are eligible to host remote control access.

GitHub is introducing a global default enablement policy for generally available Copilot models on Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise plans. New GA models will be enabled by default instead of requiring admins to turn each one on manually.

GitHub Projects and Issue fields now support multi-select fields in public preview, allowing a single field to store multiple values. This lets you tag an item with all relevant labels or categories instead of choosing just one.

GitHub released a new Copilot metrics impact dashboard for enterprise administrators and organization owners. It is meant to help them report Copilot impact using usage metrics and related data.

GitHub Billing UI now lets you manage a cost center’s AI credit pool directly when creating or editing cost centers. Before this change, that configuration was only available through another interface.
GitHub Code Quality is now generally available for GitHub Enterprise Cloud and GitHub Team. The announcement says it is intended to help with the growing volume of code produced with AI assistance.

The GitHub Copilot usage metrics API now includes GitHub Copilot app usage in enterprise and organization 1-day and 28-day reports. This adds admin visibility into Copilot app usage data.
